The benefits of robotic hip surgery are increased accuracy of pre- op planning with a CT scan instead of X-ray. This gives a 3D model of the hip. It is then possible to implant the prosthesis very accurately and so reduce potential complications such as dislocation and leg length discrepancy.

The Mako robotic arm has been in use for almost 15 years with improvements being made constantly to the software.
