Medicolegal

Mr Thomas has been providing medical reports for the court for over 10 years. He has been on numerous training courses for both report writing and courtroom skills. He has completed the Cardiff University Bond Solon Diploma which gave him an excellent understanding of the medico-legal process. He maintains his knowledge by attending at least one medico-legal seminar per year. He is also a member of the Expert Witness Society.

Personal Injury

Mr Thomas has an active trauma commitment in his job plan. He runs a weekly trauma clinic and is on the emergency on-call trauma rota. He therefore is able to give an experienced opinion on all aspects of personal injury. This includes whiplash injuries to the spine, ligamentous injuries of joints and any fractured bones.

He also specialises in paediatric trauma after a fellowship in Canada at The Hospital for Sick Children.

He has received extensive training in report writing over the last 15 years and has the Cardiff University Bond Solon Diploma in report writing. He attends regular update courses to keep abreast of any changes in the Civil Procedure Rules.

He produces approximately 300 reports a year.

Clinical Negligence

After now being a consultant since 2001, Mr Thomas believes he has the expertise and experience to comment on matters of clinical negligence within his fields of expertise.

These fields are paediatric orthopaedics and Hip surgery. He regularly provides reports on missed cases of hip dislocation (CDH,DDH) in children, as well as adult hip replacement surgery that has not gone to plan. He also provides reports for patients who have had adverse affects with metal on metal bearing hip replacements (ASR Depuy hip)
